Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is a direct sequel to the previous game in the series, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. The game features Russian Ultranationalist Vladimir Makarov continuing his manipulation of Russian Federation forces in their invasion of the United States and Europe. Players take the role of Task Force 141 Captain John “Soap” MacTavish, former SAS Captain John Price, Delta Force, and the British SAS to stop the invasion. Modern Warfare 3 features a multiplayer experience that focuses on fast-paced, gun-on-gun combat, along with innovative features that support and enhance various play-styles. It also introduces several new game modes, including the fan favorite Kill Confirmed mode which involves collecting dog tags from killed players, including those on your squad, while preventing the opposing squad from taking yours.

Pointstreaks and Strike Packages

Modern Warfare 3 has transformed killstreaks into pointstreaks, a system that rewards players for landing kills and completing objectives. Players get multiple benefits and abilities by stringing together multiple kills, which have been categorized into three strike packages:

  Assault: Chain together pointstreaks within this package to deal direct damage. Includes classics like the Predator Missile and Attack Helicopter. Reset on death.

Weapon Proficiencies

Weapons now rank up like players, unlocking additional attachments, reticules, camos, and new proficiency categories. These categories allow players to customize their weapons with attributes such as “Kick” for reduced recoil, “Impact” for deeper penetration through hard surfaces, and more, specific to their weapons class.

Modes and Match Customization

Modern Warfare 3 adds several new game modes, including fan favorites like Kill Confirmed mode and features a user-generated match mode functionality that allows players to configure any mode as they wish and share these with the Call of Duty: Elite online service.

2-player Co-op Special Ops Survival Mode

16 new objective-based missions are included in the Special Ops Cooperative action, along with the new Survival Mode. Players defend themselves and stand against increasing waves of attacking enemies throughout every multiplayer map, utilising the newly implemented progression system to rank up as they play. The higher the rank, the more weapons, air support, and gear armories will be available to customise tactics on the fly.
