Overview

Batman: Arkham Asylum, one of the best games of 2009, is an action-packed adventure in which Batman, Gotham City’s Dark Knight, must take on his arch enemy The Joker, who has trapped him within the walls of Arkham Asylum, the city’s facility for the criminally insane. The game received critical acclaim for its mix of action, stealth, and puzzle-solving gameplay, an original and dark storyline penned by five-time Emmy award winner Paul Dini, and the support of a famous cast of voice actors.

Gameplay

In Batman: Arkham Asylum, players take on the role of Batman and must use his grappling hook, batarang, explosive gel aerosol, Batclaw, sonar resonator, and line launcher to make their way through the asylum and defeat The Joker and other villains, including Harley Quinn, Victor Zsasz, and Killer Croc. The game features the unique FreeFlow combat system that allows players to chain together unlimited combos in brutal melee battles with The Joker’s henchmen. Batman must also utilize his detective skills to solve intricate puzzles using x-ray scans, fingerprint scans, ‘Amido Black’ spray, and a pheromone tracker.

Game of the Year Edition

The Game of the Year Edition of Batman: Arkham Asylum comes with several extras, including access to the playable Joker character (in the PS3 version only) and four additional standard challenge maps. Players can also unlock more equipment and develop and customize it by earning experience points. The environment provides complete superhero freedom with the use of Batman’s grapple to get to any place, jump from any height, and glide in any direction.
